As a maternal-fetal medicine physician, I care for patients with high-risk or complicated pregnancies. I am particularly passionate about genetic diagnostic testing (CVS and amniocentesis), preeclampsia, maternal cardiovascular diseases, maternal ICU care, and treating pregnancy complications including placenta accreta spectrum.
My approach is grounded in honesty, empathy, and pragmatism. High-risk pregnancies are rarely straightforward. There are many factors to consider when determining the best possible care plan for both mom and baby. I value open dialogue with my patients, so that we can work together to find the best way forward.
It is deeply rewarding to guide my patients during a critical time in their lives. Being able to offer a safe management plan — and ultimately a safe delivery — is a privilege.

This was the first time I met Michael and after my appointment I have nothing but good things to say about him. I loved having him and wouldn’t mind having him again.!!

He was the reason I gave the initial high score in this survey. He was kind and warm and gave great care. I met him for the first time and trusted him immediately. He seemed to care for me as a person and that was very comforting when receiving tough medical news

He seemed irritated that I had questions. I felt uncomfortable and it was awkward. He doesn’t seem to get what it’s like for a person to be pregnant and considered high risk. I understand he has knowledge and expertise - his bedside manner again lacked emotion. He didn’t seem to care to explain things.

Dr. Tsumi was very thorough and kind in explaining what he saw in our ultrasound results. For a condition I have never heard of, he explained it simply so I could understand and made sure he answered any questions we had during our appointment. Never did we feel rushed or feel like we’re being an inconvenience for asking questions.
