Alan A Zakaria, DO

Alan Zakaria, DO, MS, is a board-certified Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Sports Medicine physician. He grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan where he was a student-athlete on the men's soccer team.Dr. Zakaria received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing a dual Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency from Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan and has been the Team Physician for the University of Michigan Men's and Women's Soccer teams since 2009. Dr. Zakaria has been invited to travel as a team physician with the United States Soccer Federation National teams including trips to Umag, Croatia with the U.S. Futsal National team in 2016, to Bern, Switzerland with the U-18 Women's National team in 2018, and to Rogaska, Slovenia with the U-20 Men's National team in 2019. His research interests include injury prevention and load management. In 2010, Dr. Zakaria won the Harry L. Galanty M.D. award for most outstanding research at the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) National conference for his research on 'The Effects of Static Stretching on Injury Prevention in High School Soccer Athletes.'Dr. Zakaria is committed to providing comprehensive medical care and promoting a healthy lifestyle for his pediatric and internal medicine patients while also providing specialized care with an appropriate and efficient return to physical activity for the athletes that he cares for and that are referred to him.
