About Anthony Stallion

About the Provider

Anthony Stallion, MD, is the chief of Pediatric Surgery at Corewell Children's. He specializes in pediatric general and thoracic surgery. He was raised in St. Louis and attended Oberlin College for his undergraduate degree and the University of Michigan for his medical degree. Dr. Stallion finished his general surgical training at the University of Cincinnati and completed his Pediatric Surgical Fellowship at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He conducted research fellowships in ECMO at the Children's Hospital of Cincinnati, and Cancer Nutrition research at the University of Cincinnati Department of Surgery. He is a former American College of Surgeons Research Scholar. Dr. Stallion spent five years at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, followed by 12 years at Cleveland Clinic Children's. He served on Cleveland Clinic's executive team for three years. Dr. Stallion joined Carolinas Health System, Charlotte, North Carolina in the summer of 2013. Dr. Stallion was instrumental in developing Southwest North Carolina's only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and establishing the health system's department of Pediatric Surgery. His clinical interests include the wide range of pediatric general and thoracic surgery. His major clinical interests are in innovative cancer surgery, surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal surgery, chest wall deformities and trauma. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals as well as numerous chapters in a variety of pediatric surgical text books. He has lectured extensively in the United States. He currently is the president of the Society of Black Academic Surgeons and is involved nationally on numerous surgery committees.
