About Caroline Gonynor

About the Provider

My goal is to meet patients wherever they are in their readiness for change. Some people come to therapy eager to make changes. For others, the process can feel challenging and takes time. I believe treatment should be patient- and family-driven, and I use my expertise to support and guide patients along their own unique journey. I am passionate about treating eating disorders of all types, body image issues, and disordered eating using Family-Based Treatment (FBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles. I also enjoy helping patients cope with chronic illness (for example, Type 1 diabetes), anxiety, depression, and other common mental health concerns.

One question I hear is, “Am I normal?” My reply is: there’s no single definition of “normal.” Each person’s thoughts and behaviors are shaped by their unique experiences, culture, and environment. What matters most is living in a way that feels true to your values and what’s important to you.

I truly enjoy hearing about my patients’ lives, and I feel privileged to share in their journeys. Therapy isn’t just about working through challenges; it’s also about celebrating successes. The meaningful moments my patients share with me — whether it’s a hobby, a new friendship, a performance, or a game won — bring me joy and broaden my own understanding of the world.
