Cesar A Serrano Almeida, MD

Cesar Serrano Almeida, MD is a board-certified pediatric neurosurgeon and the medical director of epilepsy surgery at Corewell Children’s in Royal Oak, Michigan. He holds dual board certifications in neurosurgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and in pediatric neurosurgery from the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery.

Dr. Serrano Almeida completed medical school at the Universidad Industrial de Santander, completed his neurosurgery residencies at both the University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine and Nueva Granada. He completed fellowships in pediatric neurosurgery at Alberta Children’s Hospital and the University of Colorado, as well as a specialized epilepsy surgery fellowship at the Calgary Epilepsy Program.

With extensive experience in pediatric neurosurgery, Dr. Serrano Almeida has a particular clinical focus on epilepsy surgery and complex neurological conditions. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and remains actively engaged in advancing the field through clinical research and surgical innovation.

He is passionate about delivering precise, compassionate care to children and their families, and is committed to improving outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based practice.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Serrano Almeida dedicates his time to research and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing epilepsy care for children across Southeast Michigan.
