David Y Ellenberg, MD

David Ellenberg, M.D. is a retinal specialist who has made numerous contributions to the field of ophthalmology, including many nationally and internationally published papers. He has presented his work at many ophthalmology and retina conferences. He continues to lecture both nationally and internationally on surgical techniques and repair of complex vitreo-retinal disease. His expertise includes diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinal detachment repair and many other medical and surgical diseases of the retina.He is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.Dr. Ellenberg received his medical degree with honors from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society for his excellent academic record, compassionate and ethical medical care, and exemplary community service.Dr. Ellenberg completed his ophthalmology training at The Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore where he also served as chief resident. After completing his residency, Dr. Ellenberg went on to complete a rigorous two-year Vitreoretinal Surgery and Medical Retina Fellowship at The Krieger Eye Institute.Dr. Ellenberg is a community advocate and has participated in several programs to promote community health and wellness. Dr. Ellenberg received a community service award for his work with the Health Care for the Homeless, where he conducted eye exams and treatment for the homeless population of Baltimore. During his time at Sinai Hospital, he also participated in their community service program by providing glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy screenings.Above all else, Dr. Ellenberg understands the importance of providing compassionate patient care and will do everything he can to assure that his patients receive the best retina care possible.
