Dr Oetman has been my pcp since 2001. He knows my history and personality and feelings about current health care changes.

I'm 94 years old and have experienced a number of PCP's in my journey. Dr. Oetman ranks among the very best.

Very easy to talk to!

During my first pap smear, I was asked to consider whether or not I wanted the procedure. Once he came back, I would be able to give my response. A nurse walked in shortly after to prep me for the procedure, and it didn't really feel like I had a choice. It was extremely painful, and I ended up sore for a week. I cried very loudly. It was not a good experience. I don't believe it was the intention of my provider to cause me that level of distress, but I experience a great deal of psychological trauma during that procedure, and had to deal with the sleep issues, pain, and lack of bodily autonomy I felt for the week after. Prior, I had always felt that he was flexible and willing to listen, so I'm assuming there was a communication mix up. But between the pap smear, and his focus on my weight - which I said I didn't want to be a focus anymore - I'm not sure if I'm as comfortable with him being my provider as I was before.
