I went into medicine because I wanted to help people. I’ve always been something of a caregiver, so being a nurse practitioner specializing in family medicine was a good fit for me. My clinical interests include teaching, acute care, and management of chronic diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

In my practice, I try to start by first really seeing and listening to the patient. I then work on providing them holistic care aimed at supporting their physical, mental, emotional, and social wellness — all aspects of their health. It’s helpful to have a good understanding of patients’ goals in all these areas in order to help them navigate to a healthy lifestyle.

Having a positive impact on my patients gives me a great deal of joy, and so does celebrating their milestones and being there for their hard times. Some of my most meaningful moments as a provider are when patients attain their personal health and wellness goals.
