About Emily T Durkin

About the Provider

Dr. Durkin is board-certified in general and pediatric surgery. Her post-graduate training in general surgery was at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where she served as the Administrative Chief Resident in 2011. There, she also completed a two-year research fellowship in the UW Stem Cell Training Program studying in utero stem cell transplantation. More recently, Dr. Durkin completed her training in pediatric surgery at the Boston's Children's Hospital, serving as Chief Resident from 2012 - 2013. She is also an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine.
Dr. Durkin has received numerous clinical and research awards including the inaugural Judah Folkman medal from the American Pediatric Association in 2007. She has also served in leadership roles on multiple committees and task forces charged with improving quality and program implementation for childrens' hospitals. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in pediatric surgery and serves as a reviewer for several surgical journals. Her research interests include adolescent surgery, surgical transition, and quality-improvement in pediatric surgery.
