About the Provider
My focus as a gynecologic oncologist is on providing exceptional health care and alleviating human suffering in a compassionate way. I respect my patients’ autonomy and strongly believe in meeting patients where they are. I see my role as someone who provides information, facilitates discussion, and offers solutions. After my first encounter with a new patient, I want them to leave with three things: 1) hope, 2) answers to all of their questions, and 3) a solid plan for how we’re going to proceed, moving forward.
Patients will often ask me, “How am I going to get through all this?” A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, and the idea of going through surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or other cancer treatments can seem almost impossible. While it may be your first time facing cancer, we have decades of experience getting thousands of patients through treatment. I will be by your side the whole way. We want you to know that while you're focusing on the moment at hand, we're always thinking 20 steps ahead about how to treat your cancer and prevent it from coming back.
I’m passionate about evidence-based medicine and clinical research. As the Director of Gynecologic Cancer Clinical Research, I’m fortunate to be able to bring new and exciting experimental cancer treatments to women in West Michigan, and I'm proud to say that the clinical trials we have available at Corewell Health are of the same caliber available at other major comprehensive cancer centers around the country.

Dr Gressel is a phenomenal provider who displays a passion for caring for his patients. He explains things and goes thru each test result. There are no dumb questions. He speaks TO the patient, helps the patient feel comfortable, and determines the best plan of care. I so appreciate the wonderful care he provided to me.
