About the Provider

Jeffrey Guina, MD, is a licensed physician, board-certified in psychiatry, addiction medicine, forensic psychiatry, and public & community psychiatry. He is the Corewell Health Psychiatry Residency Training Program Director and serves outpatients at Corewell Health Behavioral Health - 18200 Oakwood Blvd. Dr. Guina has served individuals in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, crisis, consultation & liaison, forensic, and military settings. He has received training, education and has experience with the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of mental disorders. Dr. Guina completed fellowships at the University of Michigan in Forensic Psychiatry and at Wayne State University in Community and Public Psychiatry. He previously served as Medical Director of the 88th Mental Health Flight at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, as a Forensic Psychiatrist at the State of Michigan’s Center for Forensic Psychiatry, and Chief Medical Officer of Easterseals MORC. Dr. Guina has been the recipient of several awards, including the Golden Apple Award and Excellence in Contributions to Intellectual Disability Psychiatry award from Wright State University, the command-level Physician Educator of the Year from the U.S. Air Force, and several research awards related to his original research of trauma. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Guina is proud to be a clinician-educator, and has taught, mentored and provided clinical supervision for psychiatry, psychology, medical, physician assistant, nursing, social work, and public health students and trainees. His clinical and academic interests include traumatic stress, developmental disabilities, addiction, psychotherapy and forensic psychiatry.
