About John M Felder III
About the Provider
John Felder, MD is a board-certified plastic surgeon with fellowship training in hand and nerve surgery, who has been in academic practice since 2015. He is nationally regarded for his expertise in complex reconstructive microsurgery and nerve surgery, as well as general reconstructive plastic surgery. He regularly lectures nationally and internationally on topics related to microsurgery and nerve surgery. He is the author of over 40 peer-reviewed articles and multiple book chapters. He moved to southeast Michigan from Washington University in St. Louis to help address the large unmet need for reconstructive surgery in this area. He now practices at Corewell Health Hosptials, Royal Oak and Troy. His particular interests include pain syndromes due to nerve injuries, brachial plexus injuries in children and adults, other nerve disorders of the upper and lower extremity such as foot drop and hand spasticity, microsurgical extremity and breast reconstruction, orthoplastic surgery, reconstruction of the head and neck, skin cancer reconstruction, diabetic and vasculopathic limb salvage surgery, and the care of amputees. He also performs general and microsurgical reconstructive surgery for a variety of problems throughout the body including cancer reconstructions such as sarcoma, unusual problematic wounds, reconstruction after traumatic injuries, and failed prior attempts at reconstruction. Dr. Felder does not practice cosmetic surgery, but brings a strong emphasis to optimizing aesthetic results of reconstructive surgery by creating uniquely tailored solutions for each patient.

Dr. Felder nade me feel welcome and that my issue was important. He also was very impressive when he stopped by my room and apologized for my wait and toldcme he wanted me to know he hadn’t forgot about me. That right there won me over and wow’d me.

Dr. John Felder is a treasure. This is rare in today’s medical world. This brilliant doctor is making a big difference at Corewell.
