I wanted to be a nurse ever since I was young. As a teen, I had an amazing mentor who was a nurse practitioner, and I knew that would be my pathway into health care. I have been with the palliative care team for over a decade, and I cannot see myself practicing anywhere else. I also teach and mentor the next generation of nurses and nurse practitioners.

I truly believe patients are more than the disease they’ve been diagnosed with, and my approach to care reflects that belief. I look at the whole patient and treat the physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual aspects of their experience.

It’s an honor and a privilege to watch a patient put their trust in me and my team as we help them navigate one of the most difficult and unsure times of their lives. Seeing patients thrive through treatments, celebrate wins when symptoms improve, accomplish a significant milestone, or even go on a trip because their quality of life improved brings me great joy every day.
