A priority of mine is to help improve patients’ understanding of their diabetes to provide them with better care at each encounter.

In my experience, the more a patient understands about how diabetes forms, how it progresses, and the strategies they can use to prevent, treat, and reverse it, the more effective my care for them will be. As a result, I place a high priority on patient education, taking time to answer patients’ questions, and building their knowledge visit by visit.

I’m happy when patients are happy with the care I provide. Seeing a smile on a patient’s face or getting a “thank you” from a patient who was able to reduce their medications is extremely rewarding for me.

To earn the "Safe and Affirming" designation, providers individually complete an online training program which includes modules developed by the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center. For more information, click here.
