Leia C Vos, PhD

I was drawn to the field of neuropsychology because we get to study science, solve problems, and interact with people. After earning my PhD in clinical psychology, I completed a fellowship in neuropsychology at a top rehabilitation hospital where I focused on the assessment and treatment of patients with neurological conditions, providing services to patients with concussions, strokes, brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, neurodegenerative conditions/dementias, and disorders of consciousness. I am now a board-certified clinician and continue engaging in regular research activities.

As a neuropsychologist, my goal is to provide relevant, meaningful, and patient-centered care. Neuropsychological assessments tend to be lengthy because we want to be comprehensive. We want to get to know our patients, understand their symptoms, and measure their strengths and weaknesses objectively. It takes time to understand your medical, psychological, and social history so that we can provide care that is truly tailored to everyone.

In my job at Corewell Health, I focus on assessment, brief health and behavior interventions, adjustment to disability, and providing education. I also help to run the neuropsychology fellowship program, teaching and mentoring the next generation of clinicians and scientists.
