I choose a career in adolescent medicine because I wanted to care for young people and give back to my community. The teenage and young adult years are a transformative time in a person’s life. I want to help my patients navigate them as well as possible, so they can set themselves up for a lifetime of health. I am particularly passionate about reproductive care, gender affirming care, sexual health, eating disorders, health equity, health disparities, and medical education.

Patients and families are complex — and unique. I always try to meet my patients and their families where they are, and treat them the way they would like to be treated. My approach is holistic, meaning I carefully consider my patients as whole people, understanding that health and wellness requires caring for not only for the body, but also mental, emotional, and social needs.

I’ve been doing this long enough that some of my former patients are now returning to me with teenagers of their own. It is truly a blessing to not only reconnect with my former patients, but to be trusted with their loved one’s care.
