About Marian M Bercu
About the Provider
M. Michael Bercu, MD, MS, is a dual trained pediatric and functional neurosurgeon, who completed his training at the New York University Medical Center, under the mentorship of Dr. Jeffrey Wisoff and Dr. Alon Mogilner. Dr. Bercu earned his medical degree from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem School of Medicine, as well as an additional master’s degree from the School of Pharmacy, leading novel research in the field of regenerative medicine and stem cells-based therapies. He completed his neurological surgery residency at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, followed by two fellowships at the prestigious New York University Medical Center, further specializing in pediatric and functional neurosurgery.
Dr. Bercu’s expertise is in complex and advanced neurosurgical procedures, with an emphasis on pediatric and functional surgery, using novel minimally invasive techniques, including directional brain neuromodulation, laser ablations and responsive neurostimulation for intractable epilepsy disorders. Dr. Bercu has a broad range of experience in the treatment of complex pediatric brain tumors (such as craniopharyngiomas, medulloblastomas, ependymomas and others), spinal tumors, hydrocephalus and additional developmental or acquired disorders. The extended training and experience in the treatment of spasticity and pain disorders, including implantation of intrathecal delivery systems, as well as spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia stimulation systems, provide him the opportunity to offer these treatments to the pediatric population. His experience in the field of stem cells research grants him additional tools to contribute and lead the development of novel treatments for pediatric and adult patients suffering from traumatic brain and spine injuries as well as neurodegenerative disorders, expectantly to reach clinical implementation in the years to come.

I appreciated how direct and honest he was and referred us to a vascular surgeon that he works closely with.

Great bedside manner and down to earth for a surgeon. He related to us as parents and even though my daughter is delayed and non verbal he spoke to her and not at her. Very respectful and made everyone feel comfortable and included.

Dr. Bercu made me feel like he was paying attention to my concerns and he would assure me he understood how I'd feel that way but I should not worry because how great she's approved and he made me feel less worried and relieved at the same time.
