Marie Nelson, MD

Marie Nelson, MD, is a board-certified pediatric hematologist-oncologist. She joined the Skandalaris Family Center for Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders in 2023. Her clinical and research interests include sarcomas and other malignant solid tumors. During her time at Children's National in Washington, DC, she helped begin an AYA (Adolescent & Young Adult) program, an oncofertility program and led a clinical trial to improve outcomes by reducing treatment side effects of relapsed solid tumors.She attended the University of Notre Dame for her undergraduate studies and Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine for her medical degree. She completed her pediatric residency at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Nelson completed her fellowship training and joined the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology team at Children's National in Washington, DC. Dr. Nelson is passionate about providing comprehensive and cutting-edge care to all patients. She is excited about her move back to metro Detroit and looks forward to improving access to quality care and research through the Pediatric Hematology & Oncology at Corewell Children's.
