Nicholas S Steed, NP

I went into health care to follow two of my passions: medicine and caring for others. Pediatric neurology is a rapidly evolving field and offers many opportunities for lifelong learning and making a real difference in people’s lives. I am especially passionate about gene therapy for neuromuscular disorders including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMA) and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

In my role, I strive to be your best possible partner and advocate in your child’s care. I listen carefully to my patients, try to put myself in their shoes, and take time to thoroughly walk through diagnoses and treatment options. Even when some things are uncertain, I will ensure that we have a plan for the next steps. I strive to be available to my families and do my best to respond promptly if questions arise.

Building relationships is what I enjoy most about my work. In pediatrics, and neuromuscular care especially, I’m part of the whole family’s journey. That continuity is really important to me. Seeing a child reach new milestones, gain new skills, and find ways to make a complex situation more manageable is extremely rewarding.
