I was very pleased with the care from Dr. Shah and am glad to have been referred to her for a consultation and future surgery. I feel confident in her expertise. She was easy to talk to, and good at explaining her findings and what my options are. I wish it had not been considered necessary to record in the provider's notes that I became emotional (in response to receiving unexpected bad news). While I didn't feel judged for my response, which I think was appropriate and not hyperbolic, I've received enough care from male doctors with clear gender biases to wish this comment weren't in my record for them to see. Having stated this, I do acknowledge that there may be an important reason for my emotional response to have been noted. My two cents--thanks!
