Pavan Brahmamdam, MD

Pavan Brahmamdam, MD, is a pediatric surgeon at Corewell Children's. He specializes in pediatric general and thoracic surgery. He grew up in east-central Illinois and enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis for his undergraduate degree. After a year in St. Louis, he transferred to the University of Missouri-Kansas City to complete their combined, six-year bachelor's/medical program. While in medical school in Kansas City, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. He graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and obtained a General Surgery Residency position at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Hospital in Dallas. During his residency, Dr. Brahmamdam moved back to St. Louis for two years to complete a National Institutes of Health-funded research fellowship at Washington University where he studied ways to reverse sepsis-induced immune suppression. After finishing residency, Dr. Brahmamdam completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Children's Hospital of Michigan/Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then moved to Toronto to complete his Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children - one of the largest children's hospitals in the world. He joined Beaumont Children's in 2015 as a pediatric surgeon. Dr. Brahmamdam is board-certified in General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Pediatric Surgery. His clinical interests are broad but include minimally invasive surgery, neonatal surgery, congenital malformations, and chest wall deformities. His research interests include clinical outcomes, laparoscopic simulation and education. He has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and presented both nationally and internationally.
