Perry R Altman, MD

Perry Altman, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon. He specializes in non-surgical and surgical care of injuries, pinched nerves, inflammatory conditions, and arthritis of the fingers, hand, wrist, and elbow. His individualized approach accommodates for differences in patient goals and preferences. He performs microsurgery, arthroscopy, and joint replacements throughout the upper extremity, and patient rehabilitation is closely supervised with Hand-Certified Occupational Therapists. Dr. Altman was raised in Dayton, Ohio, but frequently visited the Detroit area to visit family. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and attended medical school at the University of Toledo College of Medicine. After finishing his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, he completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Altman's research interests include the biomechanics of flexor tendon repair, as well as the mitigation of post-traumatic arthritis via stem cell homing techniques. In his spare time, Dr. Altman enjoys tennis, golf, bowling, and spending time with his wife and two sons.
