I got into internal medicine and pediatrics because I wanted to care for patients and their families over a long period of time. Helping patients learn how to manage chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure is especially enjoyable for me. I try to understand your health goals, and work with you to create the best possible care plan that meets your unique needs and recognizes your lived experience.

I am passionate about trauma-informed care. This approach to medicine recognizes that many patients have a history of trauma or abuse, which affects not only their physical and mental health, but how they respond to health care. Practicing medicine with this in mind means, among other things, being sensitive to power dynamics in a doctor-patient relationship, prioritizing a sense of physical and psychological safety, explaining procedures thoroughly, and giving patients choices and control.

In addition to providing patient care, I also serve as the clinical leader of Corewell Health’s population health analytics program. Our team uses data to better understand the needs of our patients based on different demographics, and then develop strategies to make care more proactive, effective, and efficient — especially for patients who are most at risk of hospitalization. I am very passionate in ensuring that everyone gets the best health outcomes regardless of the disparities they may be facing.
