Ryan G Thomas, MD

Like many members of my family, I grew up with asthma. I know firsthand how hard it can be to deal with breathing difficulties. So I decided to become a pulmonologist, and during my medical residency I discovered just how much I enjoyed working with kids. Pediatric pulmonology really is the perfect fit for me. I’m especially passionate about treating asthma, cystic fibrosis, and croup. I also teach medical students, residents and fellows as part of my career. I try to utilize the skills I’ve learned from teaching to help patients and families better understand their child's illness and the treatment options available.

In my practice, I try to give parents choices whenever possible. I take time to explain the strengths and weaknesses of each treatment approach so that parents can make informed decisions about what will be best for their child.

I strive to empower families with tools they need to manage their child’s condition successfully at home. It’s truly a wonderful feeling when I can help keep a child out of the hospital, or see the relief on a parent’s face when they learn how much they can do to keep their child healthy and safe.
