Effective communication is central to my practice. I strive to be a good listener, and I welcome patient questions. To ensure patients and family members are well informed, I provide thorough explanations of any diagnosis and management strategy. I also try to expedite the management and treatment process, which in turn alleviates anxiety for patients and families.

As a doctor specializing in pulmonology and critical care medicine, I’m often asked, “What would you do if this were your family member?” And my answer is usually, “This management plan is the standard of care, and I would unequivocally recommend the same management to my family members.” Medical standards are informed by a great deal of data and research.

Seeing patients get better and their loved ones relieved brings me joy — which makes sense, since I’ve always found helping people when they are unwell to be very satisfying. Some ailments cannot be cured. However, in these situations, I find that extending kindness and compassion often helps people cope with their disease.
