Silvestre R Duran, MD

Silvestre (Tito) Duran, MD is the medical director of Pediatric Cardiology at Corewell Health in Southeast Michigan. Dr. Duran specializes in general pediatric cardiology and echocardiography. He was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and attended Ohio State University for both his undergraduate degree and for medical school where he won the award for Outstanding Performance in the Study and Care of Children. Dr. Duran did his pediatrics residency at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. He completed his categorical pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas where he received the Children's Clinical Research Advisory Council fellowship grant for research in cardiac MRI evaluation of chronic rejection in pediatric heart transplant patients. Dr. Duran spent four years at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital where he was responsible for the development and directorship of multiple clinics. He founded and was the director for the Fontan clinic which oversaw longitudinal multidisciplinary care for single ventricle patients. He was the cardiac lead for the Duchenne muscular dystrophy clinic. He also was the cardiologist responsible for the MIS-C clinic and for management of long COVID patients. He has numerous peer reviewed publications on subjects ranging from cardiac MRI evaluation of pediatric heart transplant patients, to use of anticoagulation in congenital heart disease, to the study of dizziness and syncope in patients with long COVID.
