I chose to pursue a career in medicine because I wanted to care for people during critical moments in their lives and to make a meaningful, lasting impact. Given these goals, oncology felt like a natural fit because it combines complex, evolving science with the opportunity to help patients through challenging diagnoses.
I want patients to feel heard, informed, and supported. I prioritize clear communication and take time to ensure patients truly understand their options. The path isn’t always straightforward, and I see my role as being both a medical educator and a steady guide through what can be an overwhelming experience. Being able to help patients with cancer find a sense of hope and stability, and to walk alongside them and be part of their progress and resilience is incredibly meaningful for me.
One question I hear often from patients in reference to their prognosis, their treatment, or day-to-day life is, “What should I expect moving forward?” I approach these conversations with honesty and clarity, while also tailoring the discussion to each patient’s situation and priorities. I make sure to break down complex information in a way that’s understandable, and I leave space for questions so patients feel informed, supported, and accompanied in their journey.
